Fundación ASISA Fellowship

ASISA, a leader healthcare company in Spain, established the Fundación ASISA Fellowship to promote excellent research on the effectiveness and safety of health interventions.

The objective of the ASISA Fellowship is to enhance the international clinical research capacity by fostering the early career development of investigators with the necessary expertise to address critical public health issues. The emphasis of the Fellowship will be on the use of advanced causal inference methods to produce valid and relevant evidence from real world databases.

The Fellow will enter a mentored research program to develop the knowledge and skills needed for clinical research. More advanced researchers may use the support to establish their research agenda through publications and future grants applications. The fellow will be eligible for one or two years of salary support and will hold an appointment at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology. The fellow will work full-time conducting research projects supervised by, or in collaboration with, CAUSALab faculty. Each fellow will be assigned a mentor based on areas of interest and career goals. These mentors specialize in issues ranging from advancement of methods to a wide variety of clinical areas.

Under the guidance of the mentors, fellows are expected to concentrate on their own research projects, as well as to become involved in ongoing projects. The project(s) may involve designing and implementing a study, or developing new methodology. All fellows are expected to analyze datasets independently, present and defend the results in public, produce reports with their findings, and lead at least one publishable manuscript.

Requirements:

• Applicants must hold an MD
• Applicants must hold an MPH or PhD in epidemiology; or equivalent degree in a related field that provides formal training on advanced quantitative research methods
• Prior work experience in medical research, including data analysis and publications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Clear interest on a defined area of expertise within clinical research.

Applicants will be judged on the basis of 1) a personal statement indicating focused career goals that will clearly benefit from the Fellowship; 2) strong letter of recommendation; 3) an outstanding academic record; and 4) successful relevant research experience. Consideration will also be given to leadership potential. In the personal statement, applicants should summarize their research experience, indicate how the Fellowship will help them achieve their professional goals and detail their research plan for the fellowship year(s). Qualified candidates will be interviewed in person or by telephone.
